Every week we interview women about how they incorporate active and healthy habits into their lives. We believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health and fitness, so we aim to capture the variety of ways women choose to be active to give you ideas and inspiration on how to live your best active life.

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Felicia Bell. I am a 35 year old business owner of two cafés living on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. I’m married with three kids and my hobbies include swimming, running, cooking, and spending time with my family & friends.

What does active living mean to you?

Making time for some healthy activity daily, nutritious eating, and just being active in your work and family life wherever you can.

What do you like to do to stay active?

I like variety. Being on the coast I love an ocean swim. You might also find me going for a run, walking, or at a yoga or pilates class.

Have you always been active and healthy?

Pretty much, although I was definitely lazier in my 20’s when other priorities took over!

What is your daily or weekly routine (if you have one)?

I try to fit in three swims, three runs and one yoga session every week. My daily habit is to try and get at least 30 minutes of activity in.

What does a sample workout look like for you?

Whenever I can I’m outside in the elements and going at whatever pace my body is up for that day!

Favourite healthy meal?

I love heaps of different healthy meals (I own two cafés!) but a crunchy Asian salad is always a winner

What challenges do you need to overcome in order to achieve healthy and active living?

For me, it’s avoiding alcohol, skipping the sweets in-between meals and always saying ‘yes’ to exercise!

What is the best ‘side-effect’ of staying healthy and active?

There are so many great side-effects – good sleep, feeling positive (great for mental health), strong body, loving mothering!

What (or who) inspires and motivates you?

My husband is a fabulous motivator. He encourages me everyday to have my time out to exercise and he loves my cooking!

How do you overcome negative thoughts?

Jump in the water or start running!

How do you manage days or periods where you are not as motivated?

I really know my body loves the exercise, it is in my routine, even if I’m feeling low I am able to get out even for a short session and I have never regretted a workout.

What do you do to treat yourself?

I go ocean swimming!

Top 3 songs on your workout playlist?

I love the silence. With 3 kids, 2 businesses, 25 staff and being constantly contactable on my phone I just love being in touch with nature.

What is your active truth?

I hate to use a slogan; but Just do it!, sums it up perfectly. If you want to do something, you will always find a way.

Thanks Felicia!
